Lincoln - An EPIC Event!
120 stands! The winter Lincoln show has come to be known as the 'Winter Spectacular' - due in part to the wide range of spectacular exhibitors and goods on offer, but also due to the fact that many dress up or decorate their stands in the spirit of the season. Our caterers offer 'seasonal fayre' for this show, and of course, we have the music stage in addition to the two rooms of talks and workshops.
For those of you with last minute gift shopping, or even those with all the gift shopping yet to do, this is a great place to look for the unusual gift, the meaningful gift, the emotional gift, the thoughtful gift or simply the gift that shows you have gone that extra mile and truly thought about what you are giving. Everything from therapy vouchers to beaded handbags - from ethnic instruments to clairvoyant readings or life coaching - certainly not the type of thing found on the shelves in the local M&S!
For many years we used the exhibition hall on the showground, which presented us with all sorts of challenges. Keeping the draught from blowing over the roller shutter door in something akin to a Force 10 gale being one - the answer to that came in the guise of a roll of old carpet, a forklift truck and a very inventive maintenance manager at the showground! Another memorable year was when the music marquee became flooded due to heavy rain and Lincoln was scoured for an industrial wet vacuum cleaner to take the squelch out of the carpet!
It was with some sigh of relief we moved into the amazing new Epic Building on the showground. The EPIC Centre demonstrates world-class standards in the use of environmentally friendly building materials and operating programmes, which means no Force 10 draughts or flooded carpets!
Moving the cafe into the has proved to be a popular development as it is now possible to relax with your lunch and listen to the performers, and also so that there is a buffer between the music and the stands, making it easier to hear the exhibitors closest to it.
The music programme together with the choice of 14 talks daily all comes freely included in your admission fee, as does a whole showground of free parking, making this show exceptional value for money.
The show has all the usual BSSK attractions - Zone of Tranquillity, a relaxing space to sit and reflect, the free Children's Angel Feather Hunt with a prize for every child, and the free prize draw for every paying adult. This is drawn at 4pm on the Sunday of the show - don't worry if you are not on site, we ring and notify the winner and winners are listed on the website after the show.
The variety and choice is so great, we sell more two-day passes here than at any other show with the exception of Manchester. There is certainly enough to do for a whole weekend, and many visitors travel and stay over to enjoy it to the full and to make the most of this wonderful event.
